Class Guidelines

We are delighted to have you with us!

Please take a moment to review these class guidelines. If you like, you can save or print the PDF version for your records.

  • This is a place to play and explore, where it’s okay to try things on, change your mind, make mistakes.

  • This is a place where it’s okay to:

    • change an exploration to suit you

    • opt out

    • disagree

    • ask questions

    • not know things

    • take risks or be silly, tender, or self-protective

    • diverge

  • This is a place to participate in the way that is most comfortable for you. For example, you can:

    • have your camera on or off.

    • sit, stand, lie down, or move around while on camera.

    • communicate with voice or chat, or draw, mime, share words or images on Padlet, or just reflect on the exercises inside yourself.

  • This is a place where it’s okay to ask for what you need and we try our best to meet those needs--we do our best to practice Access Intimacy.

  • This is a place where we center kindness

  • We are doing meaningful work together. Your healing matters.

    • We are standing on the shoulders of all of the people before us.

    • Any growth or healing we experience in this class opens doors for those around us and those who come after us.

  • I am not an authority and I have a particular cultural lens as a white queer person from the United States.

  • Go at your own pace. There will be recordings and transcripts of classes that you can refer to later.

A Note about the Explorations

  • All of the explorations offered in class or for homework are invitations.

  • I do not have a prescription for how you should do these explorations. I just think that we can have a lot more power, choice, and intention in our lives by becoming more conscious of the following things:

    • why we do what we do.

    • what affects us positively and negatively.

    • what outcomes we have depending on what choices we make.

    • where we need to set boundaries and where we need to ask for help.

    • what possibilities that may be open to us that we have not considered before.

  • If anything feels too intense or unpleasant in any way, it’s okay to opt out or modify the exploration to suit you.  I would recommend not choosing the most challenging material to begin with.

  • We all may have powerful responses to class material from time to time. This is okay. Go at your own pace, or raise your hand if there is some way we can support you. You can also go deeper with any of these with the support of a healing professional.

  • Remember you can stop at any time. If you choose not to do an exploration, you can always take a break from the computer, journal, draw, move around, reflect quietly, or anything else that feels like a self-supporting activity.
